CUFE Project Group’s Research Report was Adopted by the Ministry of Finance and Endorsed by the Leaders of the State Council

At the beginning of 2019, the General Affairs Bureauof the Ministry of Finance sent an appreciation letter to the China Institute for Actuarial Science of the Central University of Finance andEconomics(CUFE).TheBureaufully affirmed the research “The Impactof Population Agingon Funding China’s Pension Fundfor Enterprise Employeesand Countermeasure Recommendations”conducted by Professor Yang Zaigui, Associate Professor Liao Pu,ResearchFellowZhou Ming and Professor Li Guijun.TheBureauunveiled that part of the research report was adoptedby the Bureauand submitted to the State Council, and subsequently was approved and endorsed by the main leaders of the State Council.

In the context of aging population, the funding of pension fund is a hot issue within the academia and government. It is also an issue that has been heavily studied by the Social Security Actuarial Research Center of China Institute for Actuarial Science at CUFE. Under the leadership ofDirector Li Guijun of the Scientific Research DivisionofCUFE, the China Institute for Actuarial Science created a research team to undertake the task entrusted by the Comprehensive Bureauof the Ministry of Finance to study the issue ofpensionfunding for enterprise employees in China. Working collaboratively as a team by brainstorming and organizing ideas, selecting methods, constructing models, collecting and cleaning data, calibrating parameters, compiling programs, assigning calculation, testing and analyzing results, and other scientific and rigorous analysis, the formal research report submitted to the Ministry of Finance was highly praised by project review experts and leaders of the State Council.

As a key research center of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education, the China Institute for Actuarial Science of CUFEhas incubated a strong research team with abundance research accomplishment in fields related toinsurance and actuarial science. In going forward, the research institute will continue to pay close attention in addressing the critical needs of the national economic and social development, capitalizing on the strategic strength of CUFE, providing scientific analysis and decision-making strategic recommendations for the national economic and social development, and enhancingCUFE's development of "double first-class" discipline with high-caliber research accomplishments.
